"In 2017, the large units converting to the Yars (NATO reporting name: SS-27 Mod 2) are to receive about 12 combat countercommando vehicles," he said.

According to Karakayev, "the development of the Taifun-M combat countercommando vehicle was the first step toward robotic systems, given a UAV (Unmanned Aerial Vehicle) organic to it."

The countercommando vehicle is unique because it can detect the enemy 5 km out.

The Taifun-M is a reconnaissance armoured vehicle based on the chassis of the BTR-82 APC (Armoured Personnel Carrier) chassis. The vehicle is designed to protect ntercontinental ballistic missile units.

The Taifun-M is equipped with a mast-mounted radar, FLIR and optical sensors. It is also fitted with a remotely operated weapon station armed with a 12.7mm heavy machine gun.
