Russian Defense Company Uralvagonzavod will deliver more than 1,400 armoured vehicle for 2016.
Russian armored vehicle manufacturer Uralvagonzavod’s estimated output under the 2016 defense procurement program will exceed 1,400 vehicles, Vyacheslav Khalitov, deputy director general for special vehicles, Uralvagonzavod, told TASS on Thursday, December 10, 2015.

"Our key customers and we continue to draft contracts. To date, long-term contracts have been signed with the Russian Defense Ministry for 2016 and 2017 as far as certain types of vehicles are concerned. This allows effective planning of the work of our subsidiaries. The 2016 output is estimated at more than 1,400 vehicles," Khalitov said. He explained that the number would include both brand-new and upgraded vehicles.

According to the industrialist, Uralvagonzavod has fulfilled its 2015 defense procurement program. He noted that the defense procurement program this year has featured import substitution and a new law on supervising the budgetary funds set aside for the defense procurement program.

"Nevertheless, we have fulfilled our defense procurement program on time, with some of our subsidiaries having done that ahead of the schedule set by the Defense Ministry for the delivery of military hardware, for instance, Uralvagonzavod as far as the upgrade of the T-72B3 tank is concerned," the deputy director general said.

Khalitov added that Uralvagonzavod’s subsidiaries supplied the Defense Ministry with vehicles of 40-plus types, including the T-72B3 tank, upgraded 2S19M1 Msta-S self-propelled artillery system, articulated tractor, BTR-82AM armored personnel carrier, etc. In all, the Russian Armed Forces will have received over 1,300 vehicles by year-end 2015 - "about as many as in 2014", he said.

The Uralvagonzavod scientific and production corporation is a Russian manufacturer of military vehicles, road-building vehicles and railcars. The corporation unites research institutes, design bureaux and manufacturing plants. The headquarters entity is the Uralvagonzavod plant. 100% of the corporation’s stock is owned by the government.
