"I’d like to point out that we’re prepared to cooperate with the French Defense Ministry so much as our partners are prepared to do so," he said.

Gerasimov noted that following the Paris terror attacks Russian President Vladimir Putin has ordered to cooperate with the French as allies. "We were allies in fighting fascism, and we must be allies in fighting terror," the head of the Russian Armed Forces General Staff continued.

Gerasimov proposed to his French counterpart exchanging an appraisal of the current Syria situation. "On our part we’ll relate the results of the Russian Aerospace Force’s operation in Syria and share our vision of the prospects for the developments in that country," the head of the General Staff explained.

"It has not been long since your first visit to Moscow, but the changes that took place in global and regional security are significant. The international terrorism, viewed as a potential threat three years ago, has unfortunately affected many countries," Gerasimov noted.

He pointed out that Russia took the terrorist acts in Paris with indignation and compassion for the French people. Gerasimov stated that efforts must be consolidated, primarily in elimination of financial and material support of the terrorists.

"France today is making a constructive effort in establishing a coalition against the terrorists in Syria and Iraq. We support this effort. The developments in the Middle East and North Africa have shown that no country in the world can single-handedly resist the threat of international terror," the General concluded.
