Armament |
For
its self-protection the Reconnaisance Vehicle for Type 90 122mm
MLRS is armed with a 12.7mm heavy machine gun mounted on a circular
ring at the commander hatch located at the right front roof
top of the hull. Four smoke grenade dischargers are fitted to
each side of the hull. |

Reconnaissance Vehicle carries a wide range of specialized equipment

10,000 m and an accuracy of ±5 m

Vehicle |
The
hull of the WMZ551A is made in all-welded steel which provides
a protection for the crew against firing of small arms and shell
splinters. The driver is seated at the front left and is provided
with a single hatch cover above his position as well as periscopes
and vision devices to provide observation over the frontal arc.
The vehicle commander is seated to the right of the driver and
has a raised cupola with a single-piece hatch. The WMZ551A uses
a 6x6 chassis and is powered by a DEUTZ BF8L413FC air-cooled
diesel engine. A single door is available at the rear of the
hull. The WMZ551A is fully amphibious and is propelled in the
water by two shrouded propellers, which are mounted one either
side at the rear and that are run from a power take-off. These
give a maximum water speed of 8 km/h. |
