The August 20's award of a contract by the U.S. Government to Loc Performance Products, Inc. represents a trend of saving money while improving the quality of products and enhancing the safety of those serving in America's Armed Forces. This newest contract is for the manufacture of an armored assembly for the Army's Multiple Launch Rocket System (MLRS). The contract is valued at $475 Million.

Cubic Corporation today announced its Cubic Global Defense (CGD) business division was awarded a task authorization worth more than USD $27 million from Public Service and Procurement Canada (PSPC) on behalf of Canada’s Department of National Defence to deliver Urban Operations Training capability into the Canadian Weapon Effects Simulation (CWES) environment. Under this task authorization, Cubic will equip Urban Operations sites at Canadian Forces Base Gagetown (CFB Gagetown) and the Canadian Manoeuvre Training Centre (CMTC) Wainwright, to satisfy the force-on-force training capability requirements of the Canadian Army.

The United Kingdom has ordered six counter-unmanned aircraft systems (C-UAS) from Rafael Advanced Defense Systems under a USD20 million contract, according to an announcement released by the European Tenders electronic daily (Ted). The British Army is the launch customer for the Israeli company's Drone Dome system.

The German Federal Office of Bundeswehr Equipment, Information Technology and In-Service Support (BAAINBw) has issued a second Request for Proposal (RFP) to the TLVS bidders consortium - an MBDA and Lockheed Martin joint venture - to develop TLVS, Germany’s future Integrated Air and Missile Defense (IAMD) system.

The Uralvagonzavod (UVZ) research-and-manufacturing corporation (a subsidiary of the Rostec state corporation) has upgraded the BMP-1 infantry fighting vehicle (IFV). The modernized IFV will be unveiled at the Army 2018 defense show in late August, an industrial source told TASS.

The Northrop Grumman Corporation-developed Integrated Air and Missile Defense (IAMD) Battle Command System (IBCS) successfully demonstrated its ability to scale up and network across long distances during a recent U.S. Army-led test. The evaluation was conducted by U.S. Army soldiers over a five-week period with air and missile defense assets located at sites in New Mexico, Texas and Alabama.

The Russian Airborne Troops formally inducted the Toros 4x4 armored vehicle, according to pictures of the Airborne Troops Day celebration 2018 held in the Park Patriot, near Moscow. The vehicle was developed by the Russian consortium "INTRALL" and UAMZ Group for the needs of the Armed forces, Law enforcements and EMERCOM.

On August 13, the Lithuanian Government approved the new Cyber Security Strategy. The document drawn up by the Ministry of National Defence sets key directions of national cyber security policy in public and private sectors for the coming five years and embeds regulations of the European Union Directive on Security of Network and Information Systems (the NIS Directive).
