Trust Automation, Inc., known for custom actuation systems, motors, and controllers, announced on Tuesday August 9,  its fifth manufacturing contract for the rugged and high tech vehicle automation system they developed for the AN/TPQ-53 (Q-53) produced by Lockheed Martin. Q-53 is a Counterfire Target Acquisition Radar (CTAR) that provides soldiers with enhanced 360-degree protection from indirect fire.

On Tuesday August 9, American Ambassador Elizabeth H. Richard presided over a major delivery of U.S. military assistance to the Lebanese Armed Forces (LAF) at the Beirut Port. The shipment, valued at $50 million, provides the LAF with an additional 50 armored Humvees, 40 Howitzer field artillery pieces, 50 MK-19 grenade launchers, and one thousand tons of ammunition, including small, medium, and heavy artillery rounds.

Defence and security company Saab has received an order from the German company Krauss-Maffei Wegmann Gmbh regarding development of new vehicle electronics for the Leopard 2 tank. The order value is approximately $15.3 million (SEK130 million). Deliveries will be made during the period 2018–2022.

Orbital ATK (NYSE: OA), a global leader in aerospace and defense technologies, has been awarded a major new contract by the U.S. Missile Defense Agency (MDA) to supply medium-range target rockets to support the testing of the country’s missile defense systems. The company was awarded a development and production contract under the Medium-Range Ballistic Missile Type 3 Configuration 2 (MRBM T3c2) target program, which carries a firm value of $182 million and a total value of up to $400 million if all options are executed.

The State Department has made a determination approving a possible Foreign Military Sale to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for M1A2S Saudi Abrams Main Battle Tanks and M88Al/A2 Heavy Equipment Recovery Combat Utility Lift Evacuation System (HERCULES) Armored Recovery Vehicles (ARV), equipment, training, and support. The estimated cost is $1.15 billion. The Defense Security Cooperation Agency delivered the required certification notifying Congress of this possible sale on August 8, 2016.
