| | | | Description | The BMP-3F Marines fighting vehicle is based on the BMP-3 IFV (Infantry Fighting Vehicle) and intended to increase fire power, mobility and protection of the naval forces. The BMP-3F has been developed for use by naval infantry forces and lacks the self-entrenching blade that is normally mounted at the front of the hull. A large snorkel is normally extended at the rear of the hull on the right side when the vehicle is afloat. According to the prime contractor, the BMP-3F can operate up to sea state 3, while the weapons can be fired with a high level of accuracy up to sea state 2. It can also stay afloat for a maximum of 7 hours. The BMP-3 ICV was developed by the BMP-1/2 design bureau at Kurgan with the original Obiekt 688 prototype being armed with an externally mounted 30 mm 2A42 cannon and two ATGWs. | | Variants :
| No variants. | | | | | | Armament | The complete weapon system of the BMP-3F is known as the 2K23 and consists of a 100 mm 2A70 gun, a 30 mm 2A72 coaxial cannon and a 7.62 mm PKT coaxial machine gun, all in a common mount. The armament is stabilised in two planes via the 2E52 electromechanical system. The 100 mm 2A70 rifled gun fires 3UOF17 and 3OF32 high-explosive fragmentation rounds at a rate of 8 to 10 rds/min, or the 3UBK-10-3 with the 9M117 laser-guided missiles. | Protection | The hull and turret of the BMP-3F amphibious ICV are of all-welded aluminium armour construction providing the crew with protection from small arms fire and shell splinters. The glacis plate is well sloped and the hull sides vertical. The hull floor of the BMP-3F consists of two layers with a space between them and, over the frontal arc of the turret, spaced armour is fitted as standard.
| Propulsion | The power pack of the BMP-3F is located low down at the very rear of the hull with the hydromechanical transmission, with four forward and one reverse gears, on the left and the UTD-29M 500 hp diesel engine on the right.
| Accessories | The BMP-3F has a fire detection/suppression system in the front and rear crew compartments, turret and engine compartment. Optional equipment includes an air conditioning system for use in hot climates and thermal night vision equipment, which is covered under variants.
