The commandos, acting on intelligence reports of a cache site in the area, located six rocket-propelled grenades and five RPG motors. Commando engineers worked with coalition special operations forces explosive ordnance disposal members to safely destroy the cache.

The 8th Commando Kandak, partnered with coalition special operations forces, conducts operations, provides security and deters insurgent activities throughout the Uruzgan and Zabul provinces.

“The commandos did an excellent job in the removal of this ordnance from the battlefield,” said a coalition special operations forces representative. “These rockets could have been used on attacks against Afghan National Security Forces, coalition forces and civilians. By working together on this operation we realized the capabilities of the commando engineers; and by utilizing these tactical observations, we will be able to incorporate new lessons into our training program.”

The 8th Commando Kandak, partnered with coalition special operations forces, conducts operations, provides security and deters insurgent activities throughout the Uruzgan and Zabul provinces.

No civilians were harmed and no property damage occurred during the operation.
