Russian army Western military district receives 12 new BM-21 122mm MLRS based on Ural-4320
The Russian Western Military District’s artillery units have received 12 new BM-21 Grad multiple 122mm rocket launch systems mounted on Ural-4320 truck, district spokesman Igor Muginov said on Wednesday, February 17, 2016. The first version version of BM-21 rocket launcher system was mounted on Ural-375D six-by-six truck chassis.

The Western Military District’s artillery units are planned to receive the same number of BM-21 Grad systems before the end of February, the spokesman added.

"Western Military District artillery units have received 12 new BM-21 Grad multiple rocket launch systems under the rearmament program," Muginov said.

According to him, the BM-21 Grad 122mm multiple rocket launch system is mounted on the Ural-4320 diesel chassis and equipped with an automated fire guidance and control system, a satellite navigation system and preparation and launch equipment.

The improved equipment of the new Grad multiple rocket launch systems allows guiding them 1.5 times faster, Muginov said.

The 122mm Grad system can launch single rockets or fire a salvo of 40 rockets at a distance of up to 40 kilometers (25 miles). It takes less than four minutes to deploy the system.
