Analysis by Army Recogntion online defense and security magazine editorial team about the new tactical ballistic missiles and ICBM InterContinental Ballistic Missiles presented by the North Korean armed forces during the military parade in Pyongyang (North Korea) that celebrate the 105th anniversary of the birth of Kim Il-sung.
     
The S-200 NATO reporting name SA-5 Gammon, is a very long range, medium-to-high altitude surface-to-air missile designed and manufactured in Russia by the Company Almaz. Each missile is launched by 4 solid-fueled strap-on rocket boosters.

The S-200 NATO reporting name SA-5 Gammon, is a very long range, medium-to-high altitude surface-to-air missile designed and manufactured in Russia by the Company Almaz. Each missile is launched by 4 solid-fueled strap-on rocket boosters. The S-200 is normally transported from battalion storage areas on modified (8 x 8) trucks and loaded onto the launchers. The latest version of the S-200 missile has a maximum range of 300 km with a maximum altitude of 40,000 m.
     
The KN-06 (also know under the name of Pongae-5 SAM) is a mobile surface-to-air defense missile system designed and manufactured by the North Korean defense industry which seems to be similar to the Russian S-300 air defense missile system.

KN-06

The KN-06 (also know under the name of Pongae-5 SAM) is a mobile surface-to-air defense missile system designed and manufactured by the North Korean defense industry which seems to be similar to the Russian S-300 air defense missile system. The KN-06 missile is stored in a launching tube and fired vertically toward a flying target. According military sources, the KN-08 has maximum range of 150 km.
     
A new tracked TEL (Transporter Erector Launcher) carrying four canisterized missile mounted on the hull of a tank tracked chassis was presented for the first time at the North Korean military parade of April 2017. This vehicle seems very similar to the Russian-made S-300V 9A83 SA-12A Gladiator. According to foreign military experts it could be a new type of surface-to-ship missile system.

New anti-ship cruise four missiles

A new tracked TEL (Transporter Erector Launcher) carrying four canisterized missile mounted on the hull of a tank tracked chassis was presented for the first time at the North Korean military parade of April 2017. This vehicle seems very similar to the Russian-made S-300V 9A83 SA-12A Gladiator. According to foreign military experts it could be a new type of surface-to-ship missile system.
     
The KN-11 also called Pukguksong-1 was showed for the first during the North Korean military parade. It is a large solid-fuel missile which can be launched from submarine. This missile was tested for the first time in April 2016 followed by another test in August the same year that saw the missile fly 500 km into Japan’s air defense identification zone.

The KN-11 also called Pukguksong-1 was showed for the first during the North Korean military parade. It is a large solid-fuel missile which can be launched from submarine. This missile was tested for the first time in April 2016 followed by another test in August the same year that saw the missile fly 500 km into Japan’s air defense identification zone.

New ballistic missile on tracked vehicle

Another new mobile ballistic missile was showed for the first time at the North Korean military parade of April 2017 mounted on a tracked chassis which seems similar to the Soviet made SCUD-A. The new ballistic missile is mounted on tank tracked chassis with six road wheels with the drive sprocket at the rear and the idler at the front. It could be a liquid-fueled missile with guidance system.
     
The KN-15 Pukguksong-2 was also unveiled for the first time to the public. It was first seen during a test near Kusong, north of Pyongyang, on February 12, 2017.

KN-15 Pukguksong-2 medium-range ballistic missile

The KN-15 Pukguksong-2 was also unveiled for the first time to the public. It was first seen during a test near Kusong, north of Pyongyang, on February 12, 2017. The tracked vehicle carrier is used as TEL (Transporter Erector Launcher). On its first test flight it flew 500 km on a deliberately inefficient trajectory. Its operational range is estimated at between 1,200 to 3,000 km.
     
The Musudan also called BM-25 or Hwasong-10 is a medium range ground-to-ground ballistic missile based on the technology of the Russian-made ballistic missile Scud-C.

Musudan Medium-Range Ballistic Missile

The Musudan also called BM-25 or Hwasong-10 is a medium range ground-to-ground ballistic missile based on the technology of the Russian-made ballistic missile Scud-C. The missile is carried on a truck similar to the Russian-made MAZ-547A (MKZT-7916) with 12 wheels. The missile has a range of approximately 4,000 km maximum. It is equipped with a 1,200 kg separating warhead that can deploy 800 kg of HE-unitary, chemical, submunitions, biological, or nuclear weapons.
     
A new version of ICBM (InterContinental Ballistic Missile) mounted on wheeled chassis which seems similar to the KN-08 but with a longer missile. It uses the same 6 axles wheel chassis as the Musudan but each side of the vehicle are protected with armour plates.

New KN-08 ICBM (InterContinental Ballistic Missile)

A new version of ICBM (InterContinental Ballistic Missile) mounted on wheeled chassis which seems similar to the KN-08 but with a longer missile. It uses the same 6 axles wheel chassis as the Musudan but each side of the vehicle are protected with armour plates. It could be an upgraded version of the Hwasong-13 also called KN-08 or Rodong-C.
     
Another new ICBM (InterContinental Ballistic Missile) was showed for the first time at the North Korean military parade of April 2017 carried on a seven wheel axles truck chassis. According to foreign military experts, this is the biggest missile canister designed by North Korean defense industry.

Improved version of KN-14 ICBM

Another new ICBM (Intercontinental Ballistic missile) was unveiled at the North Korean military parade of April 2017 which seems similar to the Russian Topol-M or the Chinese DF-41. According foreign military experts, this new ICBM could be an improved version of the KN-14 missile. The missile is mounted on 8 axles truck chassis similar to the Russian MZKT-79921 16-wheeled transporter-erector-launcher truck.
