Russian Company VPK develops new BMM armoured medevac vehicle
Russian Military Industrial Company (Russian acronym: VPK) has developed new BMM medical evacuation vehicle (medevac) based on BTR-80 armoured personnel carrier (APC), according to the VPK`s official spokeperson.

"BMM medevac vehicle is intended for evacuation of wounded troops from the battlefield and for administering first medical aid to them. It features racks for stretchers, loading device, stowage compartment for medical equipment and seat with seatbelts for six servicemen," the official said.

He pointed out that BMM has a combat weight of 13.6 t, a road/swimming speed of 80/9 km/h respectively and a crew of three soldiers. "The vehicle can transport up to nine patients," the official added.
BMM retains the basic BTR-80 APC armour protection. It is equal to Level 3 NATO STANAG 4569 (all-round protection against 7.62mm hard steel/tungsten alloy armour-piercing bullet at 30 m distance).
