The new factory will produce medium and large calibre munitions, and aircraft bombs,
covering the Saudi Arabian and potentially the export markets.

Both officials were toured at the factory complex, which includes nine buildings, with each one housing a dedicated operation, such as production, assembly and filling, packaging, testing, material treatment etc. According to the Head of the Saudi Military Industries Corporation (SAMIC), Mohammed Al-Mady, the factory will be jointly run with RDM.

The investment carried out by Rheinmetall Denel of South Africa had a total cost of USD 240 mil. The factory, which is located at the Al-Kharj military industrial complex, has the capacity to produce medium (60 and 81 mm) and large (105, 120, 155 mm) calibre shells and aircraft bombs (from 500 to 2,000 pounds). The production can reach up to 600 mortars or 300 artillery shells on a daily basis to cover the Saudi Arabian Armed Forces requirements, without excluding any exports in the future.
