Russian Army Strategic Missile Troops will be equipped with more KAMAZ tactical vehicles in 2012.

In 2012, the Russia armed Forces want to increase the delivery of new tactical vehicles for the Strategic Missile Troops (SMT). More than 100 KAMAZ trucks were delivered in 2011. In order to maintain the combat readiness and training of all units of SMT, 160 pieces of military equipment are planned to be delivered in 2012. The majority are KAMAZ-53501 trucks (134 units), fire trucks, bus, tractors for evacuation and mobile car repair.

In addition, there is also a plan of modernization for 20 trucks KAMAZ-4310 that will be converted in military vehicle KAMAZ-43114. The upgrade consists of the use of a new high power engine, new transmission that will allow the truck to improve reliability and operational capabilities in the most demanding military operation.

As a part of strategy for strengthening, all the SMT fleet of military tactical trucks must be replaced every 20 years.

Military tactical vehicles is the primary means of providing mobility and maneuverability for troops and armaments, more than 95% using wheeled chassis to move land weapons and military equipment of SMT.

Currently, there are 6,500 wheeled vehicles in service with the SMT of which are dedicated to transporting armaments, more than 5,500 are necessary for the reserve forces. The number of tactical vehicles in service increased by 6% in less than 5 years.
