Azerbaijan army with take delivery of 60 mine protected vehicles MRAP Marauder and Matador.

The Ministry of Defense Industry of Azerbaijan together with Paramount Group of South Africa will finish the production of 60 mine resistant ambush protected vehicles Marauder and Matador ordered by Azerbaijani Armed Forces on the basis of license of this company till the end of this year.

The Azerbaijan Press Agency (APA) reports that 30 “Marauder” and 30 “Matador” vehicles will be produced. The vehicles are manufactured in Azerbaijan under a joint production agreement signed between Paramount Group and the Azerbaijan Ministry of Defence Industries (MDI) in 2006.

The production of vehicles continues in the Computer Plant of the Ministry of Defense Industry on schedule. The produced vehicles are delivered to the customer after testing by the representatives of the ministry, Paramount Group and Armed Forces.

The Marauder is an armoured personnel carrier vehicle of the category of MRAP (Mine Resistant Ambush Protected). The Marauder is designed to carry a crew of 2 in the front plus 8 fully equipped soldiers in the rear. it can be configured as a simple wheeled personnel carrier or as an effective combat vehicle by the addition of a heavy machine gun mounted in a variety of turrets.

In addition to its excellent blast protection Marauder is fitted with a double-skinned hull throughout the cabin and crew compartment to protect against kinetic attack up to STANAG 4569 Level 3. Extra armor can also be added if it is necessary to protect against a specific threat.
     
The Matador is designed to carry a section of infantry with all its equipment and be self-contained for up to a week. It has been tested over some of the most difficult terrain in the Middle East and been proven to offer outstanding levels if mobility over all types of terrain.

The Matador is designed to carry a section of infantry with all its equipment and be self-contained for up to a week. It has been tested over some of the most difficult terrain in the Middle East and been proven to offer outstanding levels if mobility over all types of terrain.

The matador has been independently tested and proven to withstand a double anti-tank mine anywhere under the hull and triple anti-tank mine under any wheel.

Extra protection against specific threats, such as large IEDs and HEAT weapons can easily be added if required. Against kinetic attack, the Matador is protected to STANAG 4569 Level 3 and this can be further increased if required.
