In the field of artillery systems, the Chinese Defense Company NORINCO presents its new SH9, a 120mm howitzer/mortar mounted on a Dong Feng 4x4 light tactical vehicle at Zhuhai AirShow China 2016.

The SH9 is based on an open top 4x4 Dong Feng light tactical vehicle, with the crew commander at the front including driver and two bench seats that run along either side at the rear of the vehicle.
The 120mm howitzer/mortar system is mounted at the rear of the vehicle. In firing position , two large spades are lowered manually on the ground to stabilize the vehicle. The 120 mm mortar/gun can traverse 30° left/right and elevation from 20° to 80°. The SH9 has a weight of around 5 tons. The Dong Feng vehicle used for the SH9 can run at a maximum speed of 130 km/h with a maximum cruising range of 600 km. The SH9 has a maximum range of 13.5 km and can fire a full range of ammunition including Western and Russian 120mm mortar ammunition. |
