The VN2 is motorized with a new powerful engine of 300 kW to increase mobility.

The infantrymen enter and leave the VN2 via a hydraulic ramp in the rear of the hull that opens downwards and has a door in the left side. The commander sits at the front of the hull on the right with the driver to his left. Both the commander and driver have a window to their front which is covered in combat by an armoured hatch cover hinged at the top.

Between the first and second axles is a small door on each side of the hull that opens to the front. The troop compartment is to the rear of the hull with two firing ports and one vision block in each side of the hull.

At AirShow China 2014, the VN2 is fitted with a one –man turret armed with a 30mm cannon. A 7.62 mm coaxial machine gun is mounted at left of the main armament. A bank of three smoke grenade dischargers is mounted on each side at the front of the turret.

The VN2 is fully amphibious and is propelled in the water by two propellers mounted at the rear, one each side of the hull. Before entering the water a trim vane is erected manually at the front of the vehicle.

The VN2 can be configured to be used as personnel carrier, command vehicle, recovery, ambulance etc.
