Russia`s Ministry of Defense (MoD) will beef up the capabilities of the Syrian air defense (AD) system in accordance with an instruction given by President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin, according to Defense Minister General of the Army Sergei Shoigu. The Syrian governmental forces are set to receive a modern variant of the S-300 surface-to-air missile system, the S-300 PMU-2 (SAM) within two weeks.

The U.S. Department of Defence announced on 24 September that the U.S. Army had signed a modification to contract for High Mobility Engineer Excavator Type-1 vehicles. JCB Inc. was awarded a $72,7 million modification to contract W56HZV-14-D-0066 for this type of engineer vehicle. Work locations and funding will be determined with each order, with an estimated completion date of April 28, 2019.

According the website baodatviet.vn, Russia has started the production of first batch of T-90S main battle tanks for the Vietnamese army at the Uralvagzonvad plant in Russia. In July 2017, the Russian News Agency TASS has announced that Russian Company Uralvagonzavod will supply 64 T-90S main battle tanks to Vietnam.

Sometime in the summer of 2019, the Indian Army will conduct validation trials of the Israeli-made Rafael Advanced Defense Systems Spike anti-tank guided missile (ATGM) in the Rajasthan desert. New Delhi will then decide whether to procure the weapon systems as a “stopgap” measure before India can field its own indigenous ATGM system.

Researchers at the U.S. Army Research Laboratory (ARL) developed a new type of thermal imaging camera that allows soldiers to see hidden objects that were previously undetectable, as reported by ARL Public Affairs. Dr. Kristan Gurton, an experimental physicist in the Computational and Information Sciences Directorate, and Dr. Sean Hu, an electronics engineer in the Sensors and Electron Devices Directorate, are leading this effort for the laboratory.

The Spanish ministry of Defense has awarded Star Defense Logistics Engineering (SDLE]) a 7.5 million euros contract to supply spare parts for the Spanish army’s Pizarro armored infantry fighting vehicles (AIFV). The spare parts will be delivered between 2018 and 2020 and bundled in seven batches. the framework contract includes the options for an extension of another three years for the same amount of seven and a half million euros.

On September 17, Brazil received the last of 23 AAV amphibious assault vehicles. The vehicles arrived at the Galeão Air Force Base aboard a U.S. Air Force C-17A Globemaster III transport aircraft. With this delivery, Brazil's Marine Corps now has 49 AAVs in its inventory.

The Norwegian Defence Material Agency (NDMA) has awarded FFG Flensburger Fahrzeugbau Gesellschaft mbH (FFG) a further contract for the delivery of Leopard 2-based WiSENT 2 Armored Engineer Vehicles (AEV) and further services. This new contract was signed on September 20, 2018, approximately three years after the first contract for Norwegian WiSENT 2 Armored Recovery Vehicles (ARV), which are currently being delivered ahead of schedule and within the budget. The AEV features high logistical commonality with the latest Leopard 2 MBT A7 version.

Saab has signed a contract with Republic of Korea's Defense Acquisition Program Administration (DAPA) concerning support for the Arthur Weapon Locating System. This Performance Based Logistics (PBL) contract includes spare parts supply and support for the Republic of Korea Army and Marine Corps.
