At the defense exhibition DSEI 2009, the British Company Supacat presents a new project of light protected vehicle, the SPV 400 series. The Supacat Protected Vehicle 400 series (SPV 400) is the very latest development to enhance Supacat’s successful range of high mobility vehicles. Building on previous experience and integrating direct feedback from the operational use of our existing fleet, the SPV will take the performance levels of lightweight protected mobility platforms beyond that currently on offer around the globe. The Supacat Protected Vehicle 400 Series (SPV400) is the very latest development to enhance Supacat's successful range of high mobility vehicles. Building on previous experience and integrating direct feedback from the operational use of existing fleet of Supacat, the SPV series will take the performance level of lightweight protected mobility platforms beyond that currently on offer around the world. The SPV Series will mirror the "go anywhere" ethos of previous Supacat products and wiill provide supreme cross-country performance and ride as well as provide the protection required to operate in an urban environment. The first running prototype of the Supacat Protected Vehicle (SPV) 400 was officially revealed by Supacat Ltd.the 20 January 2010. The vehicle is currently being subjected to a detailed trials programme. The second SPV400 prototype is being completed at Supacat's Devon, UK, facility and will enter the trials programme towards the end January. Further development vehicles are scheduled to follow. The Supacat Protected Vehicle (SPV400) received its International Media Launch this 14 April 2010 at the Long Valley Test Ground, Aldershot, UK. The SPV400 is the contender from British high mobility vehicle specialist, Supacat, for the UK Ministry of Defence’s Light Protected Patrol Vehicle (LPPV) programme. The Supacat SPV400, the all-British, all-new contender from Supacat to meet the UK Ministry of Defence's Light Protected Patrol Vehicle (LPPV) requirement was, in May 2010, subjected to a second round of blast tests as part of the vehicle's development programme. A number of blast tests were conducted to correlate development work and prove the upgrades and improvements incorporated into the SPV400 design since the first round of testing in December 2009. The results were very positive and consistent with expectations. Whilst for security and competitive reasons the detail cannot be released, the size of the blasts were "very significant" and underwrote Supacat's philosophy of future proofing the SPV400 design by aiming for protection levels above those within the LPPV requirement. Further refinement will now take place prior to another round of testing next month.

Variants:
The imminent launch of the 4x4 SPV400 Series will be followed by the development of a 6x6 SPV600 Series sister platform.
