Description

The Loara is a Polish tracked armoured vehicle anti-aircraft gun system. The system was developed by Poland in the late 1990s. Based around the chassis of the PT-91 "Twardy" tank, system mounts an armored turret holding two Oerlikon KDA 35 mm cannons 35x228 mm linked to a radar-based fire control system. The Loara integrated self-propelled anti-aircraft gun system is designed for destroying attack aircraft (fixed wing aircraft, helicopters, cruising missile, UAV) flying at very low, low and medium altitudes. It can aslo engage light armoured ground and sea-surface targets. The Loara is an autonomous weapon system capable of performing its tasks independently or when interoperating within air defence system. The 3D search radar, which can operate on the move, ensures early and precise target acquisition and identification, friend or enemy, while renewing its data every second.
