The
supreme commander of the armed forces is the President
of the Republic of Yemen. Yemen has the second largest
military force on the Arabian Peninsula after Saudi
Arabia. Yemen’s military consists of an army,
navy, air force, and reserves. The military of Yemen
includes the Yemen Army with the Republican Guard),
Navy, Yemen Air Force with air defence force. The
total active manpower of the Yemen army is around
65,000 military personnel and a reserve force of 200,000
soldiers.
The land forces of Yemeni army are around 50,000 soldiers
with the structure:
9 armoured brigades, 18 infantry brigades, 5 mechanised
infantry brigades, 1 paratroops brigade, 4 artillery
brigades, 1 Special Forces brigade, 1 Coast Guard
brigade, 1 ground-to-ground missile brigade, 5 air
defence battalions ( 2 AA, 3 SAM)
