As the U.S. Army drives toward its goal of modernizing the nation’s ground combat force, it must strike a balance between defining achievable near-term objectives and defining aggressive stretch goals for future increments. It is imperative that the Army, at all levels, leverage the vast expertise within DOD to define reasonable near-term goals, while at the same time defining the objectives that lie beyond that which current technology can achieve. Army Recognition is presenting an analysis about the most modern 6x6 wheeled self-propelled howitzers in service and currently in production or ready for series production to date. A self-propelled howitzer is an artillery combat system equipped with its own propulsion system to move towards its target. The key advantage of the self-propelled artillery system over towed artillery, it can be deployed into action much faster. Currently, there are three main classes of mobile artillery systems including towed howitzer, self-propelled howitzer based on a tracked armored vehicle, and self-propelled howitzer mounted on military truck chassis or wheeled armored vehicle in 8x8 or 6x6 configurations.

Satellites detect a ballistic missile fired toward U.S. interests and suddenly alerts are sounded within the command center. A team of operators who have specific command authority quickly leverage a highly interoperable command and control system to correlate and analyze available sensor data. The system provides the operators tools to evaluate the best course of action and then distribute engagement information to a network of forces around the world. An interceptor is launched, and the threat is defeated.

A supersonic missile of Russia’s advanced Hermes long-range system will be able to eliminate any Western main battle tanks with an almost 100% guarantee as was proven during trials, a spokesman for the Shipunov Instrument-Making Design Bureau told TASS at the Army 2020 forum.

Something is different, and you can’t quite put your finger on it. But your robot can. Even small changes in your surroundings could indicate danger. Imagine a robot could detect those changes, and a warning could immediately alert you through a display in your eyeglasses. That is what U.S. Army scientists are developing with sensors, robots, real-time change detection and augmented reality wearables. The U.S. Army CCDC Army Research Laboratory Public Affairs report.
