In July 2015, it was announced that some M-ATV vehicles were captured by the Yemen rebels.

The M-ATV is an Mine Resistant Ambush Protected (MRAP) vehicle developed and manufactured by the American Company Oshkosh Defense. The M-ATV Assault vehicle is built based on the medium tactical vehicle replacement (MTVR) chassis. It features an armoured capsule made of bolt-on armour materials.

The Oshkosh M-ATV is powered by a Caterpillar C7, 370 hp coupled to an Allison 3500 SP transmission and an Transfer Case Marmon Herrington. It's 4x4 chassis vehicle. The Oshkosh M-ATV incorporates rugged, durable, patented components and systems for maximum Warfighter mobility and survivability.

The russian BTR-80A turret is with a 30 mm 2A72 cannon with a 7.62 mm PKTM machine gun being mounted coaxially to the right. Either side of the 30 mm cannon is a bank of three forward-firing electrically operated 81 mm smoke grenade launchers.

The ZU-23-2, also known as ZU-23, is a Russian-made towed 23 mm anti-aircraft twin-barreled automatic cannon. The ZU-23-2 is armed with two 2A14 23 mm automatic cannons mounted on a small trailer which can be converted into a stationary mount.

The ZU-23-2 is aimed and fired manually, with the help of the ZAP-23 optical-mechanical sight which uses manually entered target data to provide limited automatic aiming. It also has a straight-tube telescope for use against ground targets such as infantry as well as unarmored or lightly armoured vehicles.
