The Thermoteknix products selected for the trial were FuseIR® , a fused thermal and image intensifier night vision device and TiCAM 90, a thermal imaging monocular.

“The AWE trial is aimed at examining early phase, innovative products for future use by British troops. Both of the Thermoteknix devices were included in a trial aimed at providing equipment for situational awareness and detection for use in urban combat” said Maj Mike Lavelle, DE&S Tech Office Requirements Manager.

FuseIR provides a powerful fusion of image intensification (I2) with high resolution thermal imaging in a lightweight, AA battery powered package allowing detection and identification of targets in all conditions, including complete darkness, low light, inside buildings and in brightly lit urban environments.

Helmet-mounted TiCAM 90, a miniature thermal imaging monocular, detects objects in all weather conditions and presents an alternative to night vision goggles (NVGs) for effective performance in the low lit zones commonly encountered in urban combat.

“Thermoteknix is a key supplier of thermal imaging and night vision systems world-wide and the company has a respected role in supplying its products to the UK MOD. Our TICO clip-on thermal imager has been in successful service with the British armed forces for the last 5 years.” said Dr Richard Salisbury, Thermoteknix Managing Director.

Thermoteknix MicroCAM TM based products are not subject to US ITAR control but may require UK export licence depending on the end-user country and specification. FuseIR and ClipIR are not available for sale or use in USA.
