According to a Telegram post from Военный Осведомитель (Military Informant) dated July 24, 2023, we were able to see a whole range of weapons in use within the Russian forces, particularly among the VDV snipers. This presents a good opportunity to learn more about some equipment such as the Steyr SSG 08, the BespokeGun Raptor, and the Cadex Defense CDX-33.

In the current geopolitical landscape, the focus on defending national and allied territory and airspace has regained prominence for NATO and the armed forces of partner countries. With the increasing use of drones and other airborne threats, mobile, modular, and scalable ground-based air defense systems have become crucial assets in ensuring the safety and protection of ground forces and critical infrastructure. To respond to these new threats, the German Company Rheinmetall has developed a new mobile counter-drone solution called Skyranger 30.

INEOS Automotive’s hydrogen-fuelled Grenadier Demonstrator makes its global debut at this year’s Goodwood Festival of Speed. The 4x4 emits nothing but water vapour and demonstrates INEOS’s belief that hydrogen is a key fuel of the future. The hydrogen Grenadier Demonstrator is identical to the production Grenadier apart from a bonnet power bulge to accommodate the additional height of the fuel cell, but this would not be present in a production model.

What if, during a military operation, a military vehicle's component, such as a door, breaks? Assuming stockpiles are unavailable, ordering replacement parts would take weeks, rendering the vehicle unusable, costing a significant amount of time, and jeopardising the mission’s effectiveness. Having an Additive Manufacturing (AM) solution in the area of operations could address this challenge by allowing the production of a replacement part on-site, strengthening military supply chains and their resilience while reducing the militaries carbon footprint.

Recently, the ATACMS missiles have been in the spotlight as the Joe Biden administration is reportedly leaning towards sending them to Ukraine, as previously reported on Army Recognition on June 30, 2023. But do the Ukrainians have the capability to use them? What are the characteristics of these missiles? If you're a bit confused, here's a summary of what we know about the American missile.

The modernization of the German Marder IFV to the Marder 1A5 and 1A5A1 standards is a strategic move by the German military to ensure the continued operational relevance and capability of these armored fighting vehicles. This effort reflects the ongoing global trend of extending the service life of existing military hardware through targeted upgrades that enhance performance and survivability.

“The Marine Corps requires unmanned air, surface, and ground systems to fully exploit our inherent expeditionary nature and capabilities. When operating forward, in small groups, under austere conditions, the ability to maximize unmanned systems to create outsized effects for our allies and against our adversaries is a key element of our future success.” - Gen. Berger, Commandant of the Marine Corps.

The European Defence Agency (EDA) has launched a new research and technology project aimed at improving new armament-related capabilities by enhancing camouflage and decreasing the signature of ground systems. The Advanced Solutions for Camouflage of Land Systems using smart and adaptive materials (ASCALS) - project aims at finding new materials and their application processes for active and adaptive camouflage in the visible, infrared and radar ranges.

The National Gendarmerie Intervention Group, known by its French acronym, GIGN (Groupe d'Intervention de la Gendarmerie Nationale), is the elite tactical unit of France's National Gendarmerie. Established in the aftermath of the Munich Massacre at the 1972 Summer Olympics, the GIGN has evolved into a highly specialized and reputed unit globally renowned for its operational capabilities. The GIGN is widely regarded as one of the best Special Weapons And Tactics (SWAT) teams worldwide, setting the standard for excellence in tactical response.

A European Defence Agency-managed project to develop a fleet of unmanned ground vehicles has been successfully completed with a final demonstration of a system. The project ARTUS (Autonomous Rough-terrain Transport Unmanned Ground Vehicles Swarm) developed a demonstrator for a small swarm of intelligent and autonomously operating vehicles to support infantry platoons during their missions.

In a monumental development for Israel's military capabilities, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) Nahal Infantry Brigade took delivery of their initial shipment of the highly-anticipated Eitan 8x8 Armored Personnel Carrier (APC) vehicles. This significant milestone, announced on May 28, 2023, through a video published by the Israeli Ministry of Defense on Twitter, marks a crucial step forward in the modernization efforts of Israel's ground forces.
