In February 2015, the Army of Peru finalizes the selection of the provider elected to supply between 600 and 700 military trucks to renew its fleet of transport and logistical support.

The Peruvian army is interested in mixed batch of light trucks, medium and heavy, 4x4 and 6x6 traction mainly including general purpose utility vehicles, as well as tanks for transporting fuel and water. The selection of the supplier is to be held in a near future.

In order to fulfill this request, Rheinmetall MAN is presenting the TGM 18.280 4x4 medium heavy-duty transport truck, powered by a 280hp engine. Rheinmetall MAN’s TGM military trucks are among the most cost-effective and versatile logistic vehicles in their classes. Their outstanding reliability explains their success with the UAE Armed Forces, Royal Oman Forces, Bundeswehr, and the Armed Forces of many other nations worldwide.

Rheinmetall MAN's HX 77 8x8 truck has the same MAN D2066 powerpack as the HX 58. The IAC meets NATO STANAG 4569 criteria, providing the crew with excellent protection from ballistic threats, landmines and IEDs. In terms of mobility, it exceeds all other vehicle classes, and is capable of crossing trenches up to 2.50 metres in width.

The vehicle is 10.27 metres long and has a maximum authorized weight of 40 tons, with a military payload of 15 tons. Thanks to its container handling unit (CHU) and/or hook lift system, the HX 77 is the perfect armoured transport vehicle for carrying ISO 20 ft. containers, which today form the backbone of military and civilian logistics.

The HX77 truck showcased at SITDEF 2015 has been designed by MAN for the South African armed forces and is fitted with a Modular Armored Cabin. This cabin consists of armoured modules which are attached to the outside of the cab to protect against ballistic threats and mines. This unit can be easily and quickly mounted and removed by just two people, due to the square shape and the flat surfaces. The space and ergonomics inside the cab remain unaffected by the MAC.
