"In 2015 our countries signed an agreement on military-technical cooperation. In the framework of the document Rosoboronexport already in 2016 delivered several Russian military products to the Bahraini armed forces, including Kornet-E antitank missiles and close combat weapons. Several contracts were signed this year. Besides, talks are actively ongoing to deliver a wide range of armaments and military hardware to our partners," he said.

The arms trader noted a growing interest of Middle East and North African countries in gradual development of military-technical cooperation with Russia. Upon an invitation of the Kingdom of Bahrain an official Rosoboronexport delegation will visit Manama in October to participate in the International defense exhibition-conference BIDEC-2017. It will be held on October 16-18, 2017. Rosoboronexport Deputy Director General Sergei Goreslavsky will head the delegation of the arms trader at the show.

"Rosoboronexport highly values the interest of Bahrain in Russian arms. Active development of bilateral cooperation and good relationship between the countries definitely influenced the decision to participate in BIDEC-2017. A single Russian display will be organized at the exhibition at which Rosoboronexport will demonstrate to representatives of the armed forces of Bahrain and other Middle East countries the latest Russian arms. They have worthily performed in the region already: the total contribution of Middle East and North African countries to the sales by Rosoboronexport in 2016 comprised close to 50 percent. It is the highest indicator on the given arms market in the whole history of the company," Mikheyev said.
