Russia’s weapons manufacturer Almaz-Antey Concern has started the development of the fifth-generation medium-range air defense missile system, a company official told journalists on Thursday Sept. 8, 2016. "Almaz-Antey starts the research and development activities (R&D) to create the fifth-generation medium-range air defense missile systems", the company representative said.

Defence and security company Saab has received an order for RBS 70 missiles from the Ministry of Defence of the Republic of Latvia. Deliveries will take place during the period 2016-2017. Latvia has been an RBS 70 customer since 2004, and in 2015 Saab signed a contract with the Latvian Ministry of Defence for deliveries of RBS 70 missiles.

These nine additional systems and all subsequent G/ATOR systems incorporate advanced Gallium Nitride (GaN) technology, providing the Marine Corps with nearly $2 million in life cycle cost savings per system.

The Rys combat armored car from Italian manufacturer Iveco will be fielded with the Russian Military Police (MP), according to the Izvestia daily. The decision to field the Rys armored cars with MP brigades has been made based on the experience gained in the Syrian operation. MPs have started receiving their first Ryses.
