Description

The SCOUT SV is a program for the British Army to provide a new generation of light tracked armoured vehicle. The Scout SV program is lead by the Company General Dynamics UK with the goal to replace the CVRT (light armoured vehicle) fleet of the British Army. The Scout SV Recovery also nicknamed Atlas is one of two Equipment Support variants of Scout SV family to be used in a complementary manner to deliver a coherent capability. It is fitted with a recovery package that is optimized to provide the most effective means of recovering a casualty vehicle. As with all of the other variants it boasts fully integrated sub-systems via the electronic architecture. Both roles afford similar protection and mobility performance to SCOUT and PMRS therefore can operate effectively in close support to the combat element.

Armament

The Atlas Scout SV Recovery is fitted with a remote weapon station mounted on the top of the hull, which can be armed with a 12.7mm machine gun. The turret is also equipped with day/night sight equipment to fire on the move.

Design and protection
Atlas Scout SV Recovery has the same protection level as the all variants of the Scout SV vehicle family. The hull of the Scout SV Recovery is based on modular armour to protect the crew against firing of small arms and shell splinters. The Scout SV Recovery has a crew of three.
Mobility

The Atlas Scout SV Recovery is motorized with a 600kW Diesel engine coupled to an automatic transmission. The torsion bar suspension on each side consists of seven dual rubber-tyred road wheels with the drive sprocket at the front and idler at the rear. The vehicle can run at a maximum road speed of 70 km with a maximum cruising range of 500 km. The Scout SV Repair is able to negotiate slopes up to 60%, natural and engineered trenches of 2.5m maximum and vertical obstacle of 0.75m.

Accessories
Standard equipment of Atlas Scout SV Repair includes also mobile camouflage system, fire detection system, electronic countermeasure system, two winches and NBC protection system. The front part of the Scout SV Recovery is fitted with a dozer blade.
