The
ANDERS is a new concept of a multirole tracked platform. At MSPO 2010
(Defence Exhibition in Poland) , the Polish Company OBRUIM ( a subdivision
of Polish Company BUMAR) unveils a new concept of light tank under the
name of "ANDERS". Basically, the ANDERS Multirole Tracked
Platform ANDERS was designed to replace the BMP-1
armoured infantry vehicles of Polish Army with versatile combat vehicles,
based on uniform base chassis. Due to high unification of vehicles,
it is possible to reduce expenses, technical and logistic problems that
could occur during usage of vehicle. The hull of multirole platform
ANDERS may be of standard length (6 pair of road wheels) or elongated
one (7 pairs of road wheels), adapted to carry equipment of larger dimensions,
heavy armament and numerous crew. Combat weight of the vehicle is in
range from about 30 up to 45 ton, being dependent on armament and special
outfit weight as well as on required protection level. At MSPO 2010
the ANDERS was armed with a smoothbore tank gun of 120 mm designed and
developped by the Swiss Company RUAG and named ANDERS Light Expeditionary
Tank. The development of the ANDERS began in 2008 and the At the present,
light tanks fulfill the role of Combat Support Vehicles, thus supplementing
the family of universal platforms and may act in the units using one
type of chassis. Expeditionary Tank ANDERS is also inscribed into this
trend, mounted on a standard chassis of ANDERS Multirole Tracked Platform.
Due to this fact, it has an opportunity to support directly other combat
versions of this tracked platform, preserving the same logistics of
chassis (overhauls, repairs, replacement of parts). Light expeditionary
tank is provided to conduct combat actions as support for operation
of infantry fighting vehicle, especially within the scope of expeditionary
operations. Strong armament in form of gun 120 mm imposes to the vehicle
high combat capabilities, comparable with modern main battle tanks.
Firing from tank guided or homing guidance rocket ammunition shall also
be possible in future.

ANDERS
120mm Light Expeditionary Tank has been equipped with new
generation tank turret that has small frontal profile. The
turret has two person crew located in suspended basket, located
entirely within the body of chassis. Main armament is RUAG
120mm smoothbore gun with an automatic loader system with
12 rounds ready to use and 20 rounds of additional ammunition
apart from the loader.
A 7.62mm caliber coaxial machine gun UKM-2000C is mounted
to the left side of the main armament and ZSMU-1276 KOBUZ
remotely controlled weapon station with WKM-B 12.7mm caliber
machine gun or GA-2008 40mm automatic grenade launcher. A

and protection |
| The
turret and the hull of the ANDERS 120mm Light Expeditionary
Tank are made in all-welded steel which provide a protection
against small arms firing of 7.62 mm caliber, mine blasts and
kinetic threats of more than STANAG 4569 level III. The vehicle
can be fitted with add-on armour modules which increase the
protection against 25mm caliber ammunitions, STANAG 4569 Level
V.. The chassis has the typical for infantry fighting vehicles
design, arrangement with drive and control compartments located
in front of the chassis, combat compartment in the middle and
transport compartment in the rear part. In the rear part of
vehicle is locating a hydraulically operated hatch that allows
leaving the crew compartment during landing operations or loading
extra ammunition packs. Transportation compartment may be used
for transportation an additional ammunition pack, carrying extra
soldiers, for instance operators of anti-tank missile launcher,
transportation of materials that increase autonomy of vehicle
operation, transportation of additional ammunition and armament
of supporting infantry transportation of medical equipment and
evacuation of wounded troops from the battlefield. One additional
crew hatch is available at the right and left side of the turret
in the hull part. |
| Propulsion |
The
ANDERS 120mm Light Expeditionary Tank is motorized with a German
MTU 8v 199 turbocharged diesel engine generating 720hp (530kW)
of power mounted at the front of the hull. Due to the large
power engine, the vehicle shall be characterized by over and
above the average mobile values, even when operating in the
hardest terrain. The suspension each side consists of six road
wheels with drive sprocket at the front, idler at the rear and
four return rollers. The ANDERS 120mm can run at maximum road
sped of 70 km/h with an approximately range of 600 km.. The
ANDERS 120mm can cross gradient of about 60%, trench crossing
of 2.6m and vertical obstacles of 1m.

| Accessories |
Standard
equipment of the ANDERS 120mm includes fire control system,
NBC warning system, laser warning system, fire suppression system,
hybrid GPS land navigation system. The vehicle is also protected
by an integrated active and reactive defence system of Ukranian
Zaslon and Rafael Advanced Defense System. ANDERS 120mm Light
Expeditionary Tank can be transported in cargo bay of military
transport aircraft Airbus A400M or bigger transport planes.
