During the 5 November wargames held in the Central, Eastern, Northern and Western parts of Iran, Seraj successfully intercepted and destroyed a mock-up drone in flight. Seraj is a 35-mm artillery system with an optimized cannon which uses radar and a new optic system to intercept enemy targets, specially tiny flying objects.

South Korea could provide Indonesia with additional surface-to-air missiles (SAMs). LIG Nex1 sold the Chiron SAM to Indonesia in 2012. Now, South Korea could expand the number of systems in service with the Indonesian Air Force which acquired and has been operating Chirons since 2014, integrated with Oerlikon Skyshield 35 mm anti-aircraft gun system.

The U.S. Department of Defense announced that a contract has been awarded to DRS Sustainment Systems worth $17.2 million for the acquisition of Joint Assault Bridges.
This is a modification to an existing contract: Leonardo DRS was awarded a production contract in May 2016 for up to 273 JAB systems plus related testing and support. The company is partnered with Anniston Army Depot and Israel Military Industries (IMI). The production will take place in West Plains, Mo., and the deliveries are expected to be completed by May 2024.

On 5 November, Iranian air defense units carried out the operational test of modified versions of two indigenous missile systems during a large-scale war game. The Iranian Army and the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) have staged a large-scale joint military exercise, as reported by Tasnim and AMN.

Indian Army celebrated receiving its first M777A2 Ultra Lightweight Howitzers (ULH) at an official handover ceremony November 9, 2018, a key step toward the modernizing and strengthening of the Indian Army’s artillery capabilities. The 155mm M777 systems will deploy to their first regiment in 2019. The gun systems, produced by BAE Systems, were accepted earlier this year, as part of a 145-gun agreement between the U.S. and Indian governments.

On 8 November, Rheinmetall announced that Indonesia would receive its second Skyshield short-range air-defense system late in 2019, an announcement confirmed at the IndoDefence 2018 exhibition that took place in Jakarta from 7 to 10 November. The order is part of a contract originally signed by Indonesia in mid-2017, but which could be implemented only recently because of funding constraints.

Turkish Company BMC has officially received the contract to produce the local-made Altay Main Battle Tank (MBT) for Turkish army. On Friday, November 2018, the Presidency of Defense Industries (SSB) inked a contract with BMC to start the mass production of Altay MBT that will include a total of 250 tanks.

According to the Pulse News website, South Korean Defense Company Hyundai Rotem Co. could sell 76 K2 Black Panther Main Battle Tanks (MBT) to Oman, a deal that could reach an amount up to $884.6 million. The desert version of the K2 Black Panther was unveiled by Hyundai Rotem during the Defense Exhibition DX Korea in September 2018.

The transfer to the Bundeswehr of twenty factory-fresh military trucks in Munich marks the start of a new chapter in the history of German Army logistics. The Bundeswehr’s fleet will be steadily augmented by a total of up to 2,271 new trucks, which will gradually replace Germany’s trusty but aging Kat I mil gl vehicles.

AeroVironment Inc., a global leader in unmanned aircraft systems for both defense and commercial applications, announced it received a $3,228,856 firm-fixed-price contract on Sept. 14, 2018 from the U.S. Department of Defense to provide RQ-20B Puma AE II small unmanned aircraft systems, training and support to an allied nation in the U.S. Indo-Pacific Command (INDOPACOM) area of responsibility. Delivery is anticipated by March 30, 2019.

Lockheed Martin completed the successful integration of a Telephonics RDR-1700B radar onto a 74K aerostat for land and sea missions. This latest milestone follows Lockheed Martin’s successful integration of various payloads including radar sensors from Telephonics, Leonardo and Northrop Grumman as well as electro-optic / infra-red cameras from L-3 Wescam.

Polyana-D4 automatic control system for air defense brigade has been supplied to Syria together with S-300 air defense complexes, Defense Ministry Spokesman Igor Konashenkov said. "As you may know, for enhancing the security of Russian personnel, flight safety and the protection of facilities in Syria the supply of S-300 air defense systems and sets of the automated air defense systems Polyana-D4 has been completed," he said.

The Arab Organization for Industrialization (AOI) and The Armored Group, LLC (TAG) have announced a strategic alliance to enhance Middle East Security, combat terrorism, create jobs in both the U.S. and Egypt and improve the quality and safety of armored vehicle products used throughout the region. This is the first time in AOI’s 43-year history, that they are considering having a partner in their defense sector.

Taiwan is set to buy a number of M777A2 howitzers to replace the older artillery guns. The plan reportedly codenamed “acute thunder clap” is part of the Ministry of National Defense’s (MND) ongoing strategy to confront and dissolve a potential amphibious assault.

American Defense Company AM General, on November 1, 2018, announced that it has made an investment in Mandus Group, an innovator of artillery solutions based on soft recoil technology, headquartered in Rock Island, Illinois. This investment will help to accelerate the deployment of the ultra-mobile Humvee Hawkeye 105mm self-propelled howitzer weapon system and further vehicle-mounted weapons systems structured around the soft recoil technology.
