Russia has deployed BTR-82A armoured personnel carrier at the Hmeimim airbase in Syria
The Russian Armed Forces have deployed at least one BTR-82A armoured personnel carrier (APC) at the Hmeimim airbase in Syria, according to a video record published by Russia Today channel.

The record was filmed during the visit of international journalists to Salma city (province) liberated by the Syria`s governemental armed forces. The journalists were transferred to Salma by several KAMAZ-5350 vehicles with armoured personnel compartment. The convoy was accompanied by at least one BTR-82A and several Russian soldiers.

The BTR-82A is an upgraded Russian-made APC featuring an increase in armor protection over the previous model. The APC carries a sophisticated radio, the Trona-1 positioning system with the self-contained and satellite navigation capabilities, and a day/night commander’s sighting system.

The BTR-82A’s firepower has grown owing to the newly introduced commonized electrically driven combat module with the two-axis gun stabilizer. The vehicle mounts the 30mm 2A72 automatic gun and 7,62mm PKTM machinegun.
