MSPO 2021: Oshkosh Defense displays JLTV fitted with Polish-made ZSU-03 turret


American Company Oshkosh Defense displays its JLTV Joint Light Tactical Vehicle at MSPO 2021, International Defense Exhibition in Poland fitted with a Polish-made remote-controlled weapon station armed with one 12.7mm heavy machine gun. The turret is designed and manufactured by the company AREX a subdivision of the Polish company WB Group.

The Joint Light Tactical Vehicle (JLTV) is an American-made armored vehicle fully developed and designed by the company Oshkosh Defense to replace the light tactical vehicle Humvee with a family of more survivable vehicles with greater payload and more protection.

In August 2015, Oshkosh Defense has announced that The U.S. Army Tank-automotive and Armaments Command (TACOM) Life Cycle Management Command (LCMC) has awarded Oshkosh Defense a $6.7 billion firm fixed price production contract to manufacture the Joint Light Tactical Vehicle (JLTV). The first delivery order for JLTV was announced on 23 March 2016 with the U.S. Army ordering 657 JLTVs, along with kits and support.

The JLTV Family of Vehicles includes two variants with two seats and four seats, as well as a companion trailer (JLTV-T). The two-seat variant has one base vehicle platform, the Utility (JLTV-UTL). The four-seat variant has two base vehicle platforms, the General Purpose (JLTV-GP) and the Close Combat Weapons Carrier (JLTV-CCWC).

The JLTV is based around Oshkosh's TAK-4i (i=intelligent) independent suspension system. The vehicle offers MRAP-level protection against blasts under the hull. The two-seat variant is the utility vehicle platform. it has a payload capacity of 2,300 kg. The four-seat variant has two base vehicle platforms including the Close Combat Weapons Carrier and the General Purpose.

Oshkosh Defense continues to market the JLTV at the international level and the vehicle is now in service in Lithuania, Montenegro, Slovenia, and will enter into service with Belgium, Brazil and Macedonia. Other countries have also shown interest to acquire JLTVs including Portugal and United Kingdom.

The turret mounted on the JLTV at MSPO 2021 is the ZSU-03 developed by the Polish company AREX WB Group. The ZSU-03 is a remotely operated weapon station that can be easily integrated on a light wheeled tactical and armored vehicles. The turret is fully stabilized on two axles and can be armed with a 12.7mm M2 heavy machine gun. The turret is fitted with an uncooled thermal camera and daylight camera as well as a laser rangefinder with a range from 50 to 4,000m. She has a traverse of 360° and elevation from -10° to +50°.
