According to representative of RADOM, the MSBS assault rifle with conventional/ telescopic stock is now ready for production and the bullpup variant will be ready for the end of this year. A "bullpup" is a firearm with its action behind its trigger group. This configuration permits a shorter overall weapon for a given barrel length.

The rifle has been in development since 2007 by the WAT (Military Academy of Technology) in Warsaw in cooperation with the arms manufacturer FB Radom.

MSBS is an 5.56mm caliber assault rifle currently under development as a future standard rifle for the Polish Army. There are two basic variants currently being developed, based on a common upper receiver: a bullpup version and a standard version with folding or telescopic stock.

The MSBS 5.56mm is fully designed and manufactured in Poland. It enters in the category of modular assault rifle with quick-change barrel using a common upper receiver for a conventional stock (folding or telescopic) or bullpup design.

The rifle is chambered for standard 5.56×45mm NATO ammunition, but a 7.62×51mm NATO version will also be considered.

The MSBS can be easily converted into a bullpup, and ejection can be switched through a parts kit from right to left. According to RADOM representative, the bullpup and conventional versions share about 80% of their parts

Thanks to variety of modules, the conventional and bullpup design variants can be easily transformed into assault rifle, assault rifle with grenade launcher, carbine, marksman rifle or light support weapon.
