Milipol 2021: ARQUUS has developed Sherpa 4x4 APC for SWAT team with assault ladders


French company ARQUUS showcases its Sherpa APC (Armored Personnel Carrier) version fitted with assault ladders that can be used by police or security forces to perform anti-terrorist operations.

The Sherpa is a family of 4x4 tactical and light armored vehicles developed by French company ARQUUS formerly named Renault Trucks Defense (RTD). The vehicle is available in unarmored or armored variants (ballistic, mine and IED kits), and can be configured to perform a wide range of missions such as scouting, patrol, convoy escort, and command and liaison.

The layout of the Sherpa APC is very similar to the standard Sherpa Light with the engine at the front, crew in the middle and troops compartment at the rear. Sherpa APC can carry a total of 10 military or security personnel including driver and commander.

The Sherpa APC is motorized with Renault MD-5 4 cylinders Diesel engine Euro V developing 215 hp. at 2,300 rpm. The engine is coupled to an Allison S2500 automatic gearbox with 6 forward and 1 reverse speeds. The vehicle can run at a maximum speed of 110 km/h with a maximum cruising range of 900 km.

The Sherpa APC fitted with an assault ladder system is designed for counter-terrorism forces. The ladder system consists of a modular platform with a hydraulic ramp and ladders that can be deployed up to a height of up to 8.5 m.

The Sherpa equipped with assault ladder can be used by SWAT (Special Weapons and Tactics) team, Hostage Rescue Units, and Counter-Terrorist teams, especially where elevated tactical entry and rescue is mission-critical.
