The Sherpa Light APC XL is used to project a team of 10 officers into a hostile situation or establish an armored mobile command center. It is also able to receive any mission or weapon system thanks to its large internal volume. Compared with the Sherpa Light APC, it is an extended version and has four lateral doors. The increased internal volume of the vehicle allows greater comfort for the onboard personnel and crew for long periods of missions.

At Milipol, the Sherpa Light APC XL is showcased with a manual turret fitted with a 12.7 mm machine gun and three smoke grenade launcher on each side. The protection of the vehicle is also enhanced thanks to Metravib's enemy fire detection system installed on the roof.

Weighting between 11 and 16 t for an approximate 2.5 t payload the APC XL version is targeting security forces thanks to its wider internal space. The 11 m³ back internal volume is ideal to transport fully equipped police forces (with shield, helmet, weapons ...).

Compared to the standard Sherpa 4x4 APC, three bullet-proof windows with firing ports are mounted to each side of the hull. Two large doors are at the rear part of the vehicle allow the personnel to leave and enter quickly in the vehicle.

The Sherpa APC XL is motorized with a Renault MD-5 Diesel engine coupled to an Allison S2500 automatic gearbox with 6 forward and 1 reverse speeds. It has a maximum speed of 110 km/h with a maximum range of 800 km.

Renault Trucks Defense develops and manufactures a full range of armored, tactical and logistics vehicles from 7.9 to 42 t. It is a legacy supplier to the French armed forces with almost all the trucks in service and numerous armored vehicles. It supplies the complete 8x8 driveline of the French Army’s 630 VBCI infantry fighting vehicles and the special chassis of the Caesar from Nexter Systems, a 155 mm self-propelled howitzer.
