United Arab Emirates has donated RG-31 4x4 armoured and Toyota tactical vehicles to Somalia.
The government of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) has donated dozens of armoured vehicles to the interim regional administration of Jubba, Horseed Media reports. Interim leader of Jubba administration Ahmed Mohamed Madobe received the military hardware aid in the port town of Kismayo, which is also the capital of the administration.

According the pictures published on the internet website Horseed Media, the military vehicles donated by the United Arab Emirates include RG31 4x4 armoured vehicle personnel carrier and 4x4 light tactical vehicle Toyota.

The RG-31 4x4 armoured personnel carrier has been developed by the South African Company Alvis OMC, with first production vehicles in 1998.

The RG-31 is of all-welded steel armoured construction and uses a V-shaped hull which provides protection against firing of small arms 5.56 × 45 mm caliber.

The RG-31 can be fitted with an open-top small turret mounted at the front top of the crew compartment which can be armed with a 7.62mm or 12.7mm machine gun.

Al Shabaab militants continue to pose threat in the region by launching attacks in the territories controlled by Jubba.
 
The UAE is playing a great role in the rebuilding of the Somalia army in the past few years, as its interest in the Horn of African nation continues to grow. Somalia’s Federal government has promised to rebuild a strong national army.
