British army troops could stay in Afghanistan beyond the 2014 NATO withdrawal deadline
 

Plans for a compete Western pullout from Afghanistan seem to be drifting with Britain saying a small number of its soldiers may remain in the country beyond the 2014 NATO withdrawal deadline. A senior United Kingdom government official has said ahead of the NATO summit in Chicago that the soldiers will stay in the country to fight terrorism, Reuters reports.

Indonesian army will buy more additional BMP-3F Russian-made amphibious armoured vehicles
 

The Indonesian Defense Ministry signed a deal to buy 37 BMP-3F more additional amphibious tanks from Russia’s JSC Rosoboronexport for US$114 million. “We will use the Russian state credit facility for this procurement,” Defense Ministry’s defense facilities Chief Maj. Gen. Ediwan Prabowo said after the signing.

India's Defense Acquisition Council gave the go-ahead to buy 145 M777 howitzers nearly 25 years after a procurement scandal derailed the purchase. The final contract with BAE Systems, which now owns Bofors, will be signed as soon as the Ministry of Finance and then the Cabinet Committee on Security give their expected agreement, the Times said.
