The US central command has denounced fake news about rumors that Turkey could replace U.S. air base in Qatar. This fake news was also confirmed by the twitter account of U.S. Air Forces Central Command.

The tweet from the U.S. Central Command confirms on March 25, 2018, "The US is not leaving Incirlik Air Base in Turkey, nor is the US leaving Al Udeid AB, Qatar. These reports are false and without merit."

These unhelpful reports feed mistrust and division among regional partners at a time when we need to work together to address shared security concerns.

End of January 2018, Qatar's Defense Minister Khalid bin Mohammad al-Attiyah announced during a visit to Washington D.C. that his country will expand the American Al Udeid Air Base. Al-Attiyah praised the US-Qatar relationship, saying that the Qatari Military has learned much from their American partners. He also said that Qatar is interested in making the Al Udeid base permanent.

Qatar Minister of State for Defense affairs said we will upgrade Al Udeid for US and we will host US navy as well.
