Turkish army has deployed new Cobra II 4x4 armoured vehicle on Turkish-Syrian border.
According to pictures released on Twitter, Turkish army has deployed new Cobra 2 4x4 armoured vehicle on the Turkish-Syrian border. The new Cobra 2 seems to be equipped with radar, a target detection system and a thermal camera to perform reconnaissance and observation missions.

In June 2016, the Turkish Company Otokar has announced a contract of €106.1 million for the delivery of Cobra 2 4x4 armoured vehicles to the Turkish army. Turkey received its first two orders for the Cobra II in late 2015, one of these was worth EUR47.5 million for 82 Cobra II vehicles, support, and other elements.

The Cobra II is the latest version of 4x4 armoured in the family of Cobra vehicle designed and manufactured by the Turkish Company Otokar. The Cobra II was unveiled in May 2013 at the International Defense Industry Fair IDEF which was held in Istanbul, Turkey.

The Cobra II uses a monocoque hull structure offering high level of protection against ballistic and mine threats. The Cobra II has the same mobility as the previous version of the Cobra, but features a higher carrying capacity and a higher internal volume for various roles.

The Cobra II is motorized with a 6.7L, six-cylinder, water cooled, turbo charged diesel engine coupled to an automatic gearbox with six forward and one reverse gears. It can run at a maximum speed of 110 km/h with a maximum cruising range of 700 km.
