Russia and Japan talks about bilateral cooperation of defence ministries
Russian Deputy Defense Minister Lieutenant-General Alexander Fomin has held talks with Japanese Ambassador to Russia Toyohisa Kozuki to discuss bilateral cooperation prospects, the Russian Defense Ministry’s press office said. The talks were held on the threshold of a meeting of the defense and foreign ministers of Russia and Japan in Tokyo, the press office added.

"The talks were held to exchange opinions on the state and the prospects of cooperation between the Russian and Japanese defense ministries," the press office said.

"The meeting was conducted on the threshold of the two-plus-two consultations that will take place on March 20 in Tokyo and be attended by the defense and foreign ministers of Russia and Japan," the press office added.

"Fomin noted the positive dynamics of bilateral cooperation in 2016 and emphasized that it was important to further intensify exchanges between the Russian and Japanese defense ministries amid dynamically-developing top-level contacts," the press office said. "The meeting was held in a positive atmosphere," the press office added.
