Chaborz special buggy to be produced in Russia at Chechenavto automotive plant
On March 4, the serial production of the Chaborz special buggy was officially launched at the Chechenavto automotive plant in Argun (Chechnya). The light multi-purpose all-terrain vehicle can transport a crew of three servicemen and up to 250 kg of payload in desert, mountain, and steppe terrains. The buggy has been developed by Russia`s engineers; it has passed all trials in the harshest conditions. It can be used as an assault, reconnaissance, medevac, or command vehicle.

The buggy is capable of the most difficult tactical mission accomplishing, the head of Chechnya Ramzan Kadyrov told during the vehicle`s production launch. He also tested the capabilities of the buggy. "Russia`s state of play in the area of heavy military vehicles is splendid; however, the segment of light armed automobiles is occupied by foreign manufacturers. However, we have developed an all-terrain vehicle that features advanced technical specifications within several months," Kadyrov said.

"The price of our buggy is significantly less compared to foreign analogues; at the same time, we offer advanced capabilities. The military version of the buggy will have a cost of RUB1.5 million, while the civil version will be cheaper. We can produce the vehicle at a rate of 30 units per month at the Chechenavto enterprise," the assistant to the head of Chechnya and deputy commander of Rosgvardiya in the republic Danil Martynov added.

The International Special Forces Training Center in Chechnya also revealed the project of a large all-terrain vehicle that could transport up to six servicemen with individual equipment and had a speed of up to 130 km/h. It was supposed to have a length of over 4 m and a weight of 1.5 t. The vehicle could be equipped with Kord and Pecheneg machineguns, as well as an automatic grenade launcher. Moreover, the buggy could be fitted with an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) launcher or stretchers to transport several wounded soldiers. The demonstration of the new vehicle is suggested to be revealed in Summer 2017.

The market of light high-speed buggies was previously dominated by foreign-originated specimens, for instance, DAGOR and MRZR vehicles by Polaris. Russia`s Chaborz buggy is supposed to be a competitive one owing to its high cost-efficiency ratio and reliability. It should be noted that the new vehicle is lighter and more maneuverable than the ones developed by Polaris.

The new heavy buggy being developed by Russia`s industry will match MRZR featuring a higher speed (130 km/h over 96 km/h), more capacitive layout (six servicemen over four), and an ability (optional) to launch UAVs. Therefore, Russia is discovering new segment of the world`s military automotive market.
