Russia has delivered S-300PS surface-to-air defense missile system to Kazakhstan.
Russia has delivered S-300PS (NATO reporting name: SA-10 Grumble) air defense missile systems to Kazakhstan for free to strengthen the single regional air defense system, Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu said at a meeting with his Kazakh counterpart Imangali Tasmagambetov.
     
     
"We are paying special attention to the development of Russian-Kazakh relations in the air defense sphere. We have delivered S-300PS air defense missile systems and missiles for them to Kazakhstan for free to strengthen the single regional air defense system," Shoigu said.

According to the Russian defense minister, the Russian and Kazakh defense industries have good cooperation prospects.

"Our priority is to develop common reliable defense potential able to counteract any challenges and threats. We are interested in expanding military and technical cooperation," Shoigu said.

As Shoigu said, the Russian Defense Ministry is ready to provide assistance to Kazakhstan in the sphere of military construction.

The S-300 PS is capable of destroying ballistic missile targets, and is regarded as one of the most potent anti-aircraft missile systems currently fielded Its radars have the ability to simultaneously track up to 100 targets while engaging up to 12.

The S-300PS surface-to-air missile has a maximum range of 75 km for aerila targets and 25 km for short-range ballistic missile.

Each launcher (5P85S or 5P85D) carries four missile silos (one missile by silo) mounted to the back side of the chassis. During launching the silos are drawn in vertical position, to the back side of the truck.
