“As part of the creation of the united regional air defense system the air defense units located in Grodno Oblast, Brest Oblast, and Vitebsk Oblast will get four batteries and a command station of air defense missile systems S-300PS in 2015,” specified the Belarusian Defense Minister. He noted that the delivery of air defense missile systems S-400 is being discussed but it is premature to talk about any specific timeframe.

The Minister underlined that Belarus-Russia cooperation in military technology develops dynamically and Russia is Belarus' main partner in matters relating to the acquisition of defense products, repair and modernization of weapons and military hardware. He also noted that many military products are supplied by Russia on preferential terms on the basis of the Belarus-Russia agreement on advancing military technology cooperation.

According to Andrei Ravkov, in 2014-2015 about 50 contracts were signed on preferential terms. The contracts envisage the delivery, repair, and modernization of air defense missile systems, communication systems, electronic warfare systems, infantry weapons and artillery systems, ammunition, and aviation technology assets for the Belarusian army.

Andrei Ravkov noted that they always come to terms with Russian colleagues thanks to the mutual understanding of the importance of the tasks that are being accomplished to ensure the defensive capability of the Union State of Belarus and Russia.
