KONGSBERG, with its US partner Raytheon, has delivered the first NASAMS High Mobility Launcher (HML) to Norway. The contract was signed in November 2011 and Norway is the first country to take delivery of the new operating capability in the NASAMS air defence system.
The NASAMS system, jointly developed by Raytheon and KDA, provides a state-of-the-art medium range air defense system that can quickly identify, engage and destroy current and evolving enemy aircraft, unmanned aerial vehicles and cruise missile threats.

“Ground Based Air defence is a vital part of a country's total defence and the Armed Forces are very satisfied with the increased capability of the NASAMS air defence system", comments Brigadier Frode Flølo, chief of air defence capabilities for the Norwegian Armed Defence Logistics Organisation (NDLO).

The new High Mobility Launcher (HML) will work with existing NASAMS launchers, and improves mobility and thus the NASAMS system's overall capability.

“We are proud that the Norwegian Armed Forces are the first to adopt the HML as a new element in their NASAMS portfolio. At the same time, HML will be a good fit for NASAMS exports where we are looking at several existing and new opportunities", remarks Executive Vice President Eirik Lie of Kongsberg Defence Systems.

A number of countries have chosen NASAMS as their air defence system, including Norway, Finland, The Netherlands, the USA, and Spain.
