The U.S. Air Force released a request for proposals for its Ground-Based Strategic Deterrent intercontinental ballistic missile weapon system program July 16, 2019. The request is for the weapon system’s Engineering and Manufacturing Development phase and includes five production lot options to produce and deploy the weapon system.

The future armored vehicle of the Belgian army called Griffon will be the star of the Belgian National Day military parade that will take place on July 21, 2019 in the center of Brussels. The Griffon VBMR (Multi-Role Armored Vehicle) is a new development of 6x6 Multi-Role armored vehicle for the French Army under the program VBMR / EBMR Scorpion (Engin Blindé Multi-Rôle - Armoured Multi-roles Vehicles).

The supply of the main components of Russian-made S-400 Triumph air defense weapons to Turkey will take close to one week, the Izvestia daily writes. Russia began the delivery of S-400 Triumph air defense missile systems to Turkey on July 12. According to the Turkish Defense Ministry, three cargo aircraft delivered the system parts to Murted Air Base on that day. Another Russian aircraft flew in the next day.

On the occasion of the visit of French President Emmanuel Macron to Serbia July 16, 2019, MBDA announces the signing of a contract for the acquisition of Mistral 3 short-range air defense systems by the Ministry of Defence of Serbia. With this first European missile order, Serbia becomes the 32nd customer country for the Mistral missile and the 10th country invited to join the Mistral user club.

The CaMo contract awarded by the French defence procurement agency (DGA) on behalf of Belgium includes 60 Jaguar reconnaissance and combat vehicles (EBRC) and 382 Griffon multi-role armoured vehicles (VBMR). As with France’s Scorpion programme, under this contract Thales is in charge of common combat vetronics, including communications, onboard computing and decision support solutions, and perimeter vision, self-protection and navigation systems. This unprecedented level of cooperation between the Belgian and French land forces is a strategic enabler for combat engagements by European armed forces.

DARPA’s Squad X Experimentation program aims to demonstrate a warfighting force with artificial intelligence as a true partner. In a recent field test, the program worked with U.S. Marines at the Air Ground Combat Center in Twentynine Palms, California, to track progress on two complementary systems that allow infantry squads to collaborate with AI and autonomous systems to make better decisions in complex, time-critical combat situations.

Indian Army is planning to make a large scale purchase of drones in order to secure the international borders, The Sentinel of Assam reports. The drones to be purchased by the Indian Army will help its huge force of 1.2 million soldiers in maintaining a strong surveillance system at the borders shared with Pakistan and China.

The U.S. State Department has made a determination approving a possible Foreign Military Sale to the Government of Germany of Patriot Advanced Capability 3 (PAC-3) Missiles Segment Enhanced (MSE) with support for an estimated cost of $401 million. The Defense Security Cooperation Agency delivered the required certification notifying Congress of this possible sale on July 12, 2019.

Turkey has taken delivery of Russian S-400 Triumph air defense system components, in spite of the U.S. warning that it would trigger sanctions from Washington and compromise Turkey’s implication in the Lockheed F-35 Lightning II programme, including the non-delivery of the two jets already produced and on which Turkish pilots are training in the U.S.

According to a statement released on July 8, 2019, to the website of the U.S. Defense Security Cooperation Agency, the U.S. State Department has made a determination approving a possible Foreign Military Sale to Taiwan for the M1A2T Abrams Main Battle Tanks and related equipment and support for an estimated cost of $2 billion.

General Dynamics Mission Systems was awarded a $296.1 million hybrid (cost-plus-fixed-fee and firm-fixed-price) contract for the production of Prophet Enhanced systems. The Prophet system's primary mission is to provide 24-hour situation development and information superiority to enable the most effective engagement of enemy forces.

At a forthcoming Ministerial Investment Committee (CMI), French Defense Minister Florence Parly will announce her decision to equip the Army with 54 Thales Defense 2R2M self-propelled mortars, which will equip Griffon armored vehicles equipped with a sunroof, like the VAB mortar currently in service.

On July 9, the first two of the 88 Vilkas Infantry Fighting Vehicles (IFVs) produced for the Lithuanian armed forces by a German manufacturer were formally handed over to Lithuania, after having been informally delivered on 25 June to the Lithuanian Grand Duke Algirdas Mechanized Infantry Battalion of the Mechanised Infantry Brigade Iron Wolf based in Rukla to carry out acceptance procedures.
