The Indian Army will soon be adding the 155 mm gun 'Dhanush' to its range of guns which have been proving their prowess and deadly firepower in various battlefields. The Indian army, which already has the 155 mm Bofors gun, will induct Dhanush, which would add even more might to the regiment of artillery, said army officials at the Exercise Mahasangram, on Tuesday, January 14, 2014.

Army of Indonesia orders Thales ForceSHIELD air defense system with STARStreak missiles
 

Thales UK today announced that it has signed a contract worth over £100 million with the Indonesian Ministry of Defence for ForceSHIELD,Thales’s integrated Advanced Air Defence system. In addition to the supply of STARStreak short-range air defence missiles, the system comprises CONTROLMaster 200 radar and weapon coordination systems, RAPIDRanger mobile weapon systems and Lightweight Multiple Launchers.

Defense Export of Turkey up to 10% for 2013 with a total amount of $1.4 billion
 

Turkey’s defense exports totaled $1.4 billion in 2013, marking a 10 percent rise from the previous year, Turkey’s Defense and Aerospace Industry Exporters’ Association (SSI) has said. “While the country’s overall exports saw a stagnant year in 2013, defense and aerospace exports witnessed remarkable progress,” SSI head Latif Aral Alis was quoted as saying in a statement released by the association.

Kongsberg to deliver Protector M151 Remote Weapon Stations to upgrade Piranha III of Irish Army
 

KONGSBERG has signed a contract for the delivery of PROTECTOR Remote Weapon Stations (RWS) for the Piranha III upgrade program in Ireland. The Irish Defence Force is expected to upgrade its entire Piranha III fleet with PROTECTOR M151 systems over the next five years. This contract supports the first set of these upgrade and deliveries of the PROTECTOR are planned in September 2014.

The Belgian Company FN Herstal has confirmed the purchase by the Lithuania’s Ministry of Defense of FN SCAR-H PR (Precision Rifle). A statement of the Ministry of Defense said that the contract is worth €2.87 million with the first delivery to begin this year. The total of rifles ordered was not disclosed by the ministry.
