ISRAEL

The Israeli Defence Forces (IDF), or Tzahal, have a unified structures, where land, naval and air forces are all branches of the IDF. There is no law-designated Commander-in-Chief . Overall command is vested in the Cabinet headed by the Prime Minister, while administrative and operational control is in the hands of the Chief of General Staff. The total active manpower is around 186,500 soldiers, includes 135,500 conscripts. The conscription for the men is 32 months, and for the women 24 months.
The Israeli Land Forces is around 141,000 soldiers, includes some 113,000 conscripts, and maximum 590,000 conscripts during general mobilisation.
The structures of the Israeli Land Forces is :
- 3 Corps HQs
- 4 Territorial Commands (Northern, Central, South, and Home front)
- 7 active division and 9 reserve division with a total of 76 brigades
- 4 mechanised infantry divisions
- 3 armoured divisions
- 9 reserve armoured divisions
- 1 paratroop brigade
- 9 independent brigade groups
- 1 special operations battalion
