First presentation in Asia for Nexter Aravis wheeled armoured vehicle at IndoDefence.

Unveiled at Eurosatory 2008, the ARAVIS® is the most protected multirole vehicle in its category. One of the major advantages of this new 12 tonne 4x4 vehicle is its protection, a main concern of armed forces, highlighted by experience acquired in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Current generation of protected carriers in service can no longer cope with the increasing threat posed by improved IED, mines and more powerful kinetic projectiles. Nexter Systems have developed SAFEPRO® armour technology that can defeat combined effects (blast and fragments) attacks generated both by the most powerful IED, mines and AP carbide HMG Bullets. SAFEPRO® is the core solution for the new family of ARAVIS® vehicles.

The Aravis vehicle has been successfully tested to withstand 'heavy IED attack', with the detonation of 50kg TNT at a distance of 5m, which might become the Nato STANAG level 4 protection against improvised explosive devices. The IED-protection features built into the Aravis are anti-blast and anti-fragmentation side walls and anti-blast doors. The doors withstood the 50kg TNT blast trials without malfunction.

LEVEL 4 BALLISTIC PROTECTION
Defeats 14.5 HMG attacks (STANAG 4569)

LEVEL 4 MINE PROTECTION
Defeats 10 kg mine attacks under the belly and wheels (STANAG 4569)

LEVEL 4 ARTILLERY ATTACKS PROTECTION
Defeats 155mm burst all around (STANAG 4569)

PT. Pacific Aman Garda at IndoDefence 2010

Wednesday, 10 November 2010, 17:03 PM

The new IDP Tactical Beam from Indonesian Company Pacific Aman Garda.

The IDP Tactical Beam is a weapon-mounted LED flashlight with a laser sight. Offers adjustable mounting flexibility that can accommodate the Glock or Picatinny (1913) accessory rails featured on a wide variety of firearms.

LASER SIGHT ZEROING
For a laser mounted below or to the side of the bore, there is only one distance where the bullet path will coincide with the laser sight line, this point is the "zero range". Laser adjustment and the muzzle velocity of the bullet determine where this point occurs. The user must decide how high above or below the sight line the bullet can be allowed to strike and adjust the sight accordingly. At distances less than the zero range the bullet will be above the sight line. Beyond the zero range the bullet will be the sight line.
If mounted to the side, the bullet will also deviate to the side of the laser line, as well as up and down. In practice, an IDP Tactical Beam TB on a handgun can be adjusted to keep the bullet strike within about "2 high and 2 low" out to about 100 feet.

BATTERY ASSEMBLY
The IDP Tactical Beam TB laser sights use 2 CR-123 (6V) batteries. The CR-123's negative and positive pole has been indicated on the mount.
DANGER: DO NOT use anything other than a CR-123 battery or rechargeable batteries with this product.
To access the battery compartment you must first remove the flashlight from the firearm. Follow the battery removal procedure instructions below.

1. Unclip the door latch, the latch is tight, it may help to use a coin.
2. Slip the batteries from the flashlight.
3. Insert the new batteries observing polarity. Note: The flashlight is
polarity protected and will not light if the batteries are inserted incorrectly.
4. Hold the battery switch/door at an angle and place the small tab on the
bottom of the battery/door switch into the slot in the flashlight body.
5. Firmly push and hold the door closed against the flashlight body.
6. Swing the door latch over the door and snap it into place.

Bumar at IndoDefence 2010

Wednesday, 10 November 2010, 15:32 PM

Bumar at IndoDefence 2010 with air defence system KOBRA.

The KOBRA air defence system is designed to protect land forces and high-value facilities against low and medium-height air attacks. This refers particularly to combat aircraft, helicopters and unmanned air vehicles flying at the lowest heights and taking advantage of the terrain shape.

A typical KOBRA anti-aircraft battery consists of:
• 3D multi-beam search radar (MMSR),
• battery command vehicle (BCV),
• mobile missile launchers POPRAD – up to
6 units,
• guns (e.g. ZUR 23-2 KG) – up to 6 units.

The KOBRA system configuration helps to meet all these requirements, offering effective defence of high-value assets, troops and forces. The newest technical solutions applied for target acquisition, operations com- mand and control and weapon control make this proposal one of the most effective short--range air defence systems at the battery level.

BASIC FUNCTIONS
• Detection and tracking of targets by a 3D radar (MMSR)
• Automatic transmission of air picture data to the battery commanders vehicles (BCV)
• Automatic transmission of POPRAD missile launcher’s current position and armament status to the BCVs
• Continuous update of the positions of all system components, based on GPS data
• Presenting the air picture on the back- ground of the current tactical situation and a digital map of the terrain (optionally)
• Computer aided analysis of the air situation and evaluation of possible variants of effective defence, resulting in an battle optimisation proposal to be approved by the commander
• Transmission of engagement orders and target data from the BCV to the POPRAD launchers (in case of emergency, battery command is also possible by means of voice communication)
• Optoelectronic acquisition and tracking of the targets indicated for engagement by the POPRAD launchers
• Optoelectronic acquisition and tracking of the target indicated for engagement by the BCVs
• Ballistic calculations carried out independently for each gun, taking into account the type of ammunition loaded and precise gun position relative to the BCV
• Automatic aiming of each gun at the lead point, with the possibility of firing all guns or some of them only
• Recording of operational situations and events for later replay and analysis

POSSIBLE USES
• Airport protection
• Air defence systems
• Coastal protection systems
• Area protection

Thales is a worldwide leader in the IFF domain and remains unique in having a complete and comprehensive IFF product portfolio, satisfying the current and future equipment needs of all armed forces around the globe.
Thales’s BlueGate product family offers a global range of equipments comprising airborne transponders, airborne interrogators, airborne combined interrogators-transponders, ground/surface interrogators and combined interrogator-transponders.

Thanks to BlueGate’s compliance with Mode 5, the new NATO secure identification mode, Thales guarantees for the coming decades the interoperability between NATO and Allied Forces and provides high-performance identification capabilities. BlueGate thus further minimises the possibility of friendly fire on an aircraft or a ship. Thales’s BlueGate Mode S is fully compliant with the latest International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) standard and with the Eurocontrol regulations for military and civil air surveillance. BlueGate therefore provides military aircrafts with the capability to fly into the general airspace without any specific restriction.

“We are proud to launch BlueGate, Thales’s new IFF family which is compliant with present and future operational requirements.” said Patrice Caine, Director of Radio Communication activities at Thales. “With this offer, Thales provides forces with solutions guaranteeing efficiency while ensuring better protection.”
