Description

The R-330ZH also named Zhitel is a jamming communication station designed and manufactured by the Russian Company Protek. The system is in service with the Russian army and deployed by the 18th motor rifle brigade. The whole system includes one Ural-43203/KAMAZ-43114 truck and one shelter with four telescopic masts. The truck is the control center for the operators. The shelter is equipped with four telescopic active phased array transmitter antennas mounted on a four wheels trailer. The R-330ZH is designed for detection, analysis, direction-finding and jamming of satellite and cellular phone communication systems operated in the frequency from 100 to 2,000 MHz. The jamming system provides analysis and selection of emitters’ signal parameters. The R-330ZH jamming station was used by the Russian army during the Crimean crisis in March 2014.

Composition
The R-330ZH jamming station consists of an electronic equipment vehicle mounted on a 6x6 truck chassis and a diesel electric power station with four active phased array antennas fitted on telescopic masts mounted on a two-axle trailer. Phased array antennas offer many advantages to the radar system designer, such as agile beams, low profile, and scalability. Active arrays use Transmit/Receive (T/R) modules to provide the last stage of amplification for transmitted signals, the first stage of amplification for receive signals, and provide both amplitude and phase control at each radiating element.
Combat use
The R-330ZH Zhitel can be deployed in less than 40 min. It can operate in autonomously thanks to Diesel electric generators during a period of 1.600 hours. The station is designed to solve the following tasks: detection, direction finding and jamming wearable mobile stations of mobile satellite communications Inmarsat and Iridium, detection, direction finding and jamming base stations of cellular communication standard GSM 1900 consumer navigation equipment jamming of satellite communications systems NAVSTAR (GPS). The product can operate in stand-alone mode as well as in the conjugate pair, both master and slave under the control of the complex R-330ZH. Though listed above which the signal is suppressed by one hundred percent within 20-30 km from the operating station. Its communication is also suppressed because of oppression before turning on the radio communication between the units is transmitted prearranged signal that alerts the complete radio silence and turn off the radio communications. The signal is transmitted through the inclusion of a wired link, means of messengers, etc.

Mobility

The R-330ZH uses the Ural-43203 truck which is based on the Ural-4320 (6 × 6) truck series fitted with reinforced front suspension. The truck is motorized with the V-6 180 hp. YaMZ-236M2 or the V-8 240 hp. YaMZ-238M2 Diesel engine coupled to a 5-speed manual transmission. The truck can run at a maximum road speed of 85 km/h. It has also a maximum payload of 4,500 kg. The front cab can accommodate three people. The R-330ZH can also use the KAMAZ-43114 6x6 truck chassis. The trailer with the four antennas is towed by the truck in road condition.
