The
only tri-service defence exhibition in the Middle East & North Africa
IDEX is the most strategically important defence exhibition in the world
and provides the optimum business environment for international solution
providers across land, sea and air sectors to target buyers in the Middle
East and North Africa (MENA). It is a unique platform to establish and
strengthen relationships with government departments, businesses and
armed forces throughout the region.
IDEX is held under
the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President
of the UAE and Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces. And is organised
by the Abu Dhabi National Exhibitions Company (ADNEC) in association
and with the full support of the UAE Armed Forces.
IDEX takes place biennially at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre
(ADNEC), which is centrally located in Abu Dhabi, the capital of the
United Arab Emirates. The IDEX exhibition takes over 100% of the state-of-the-art
exhibition centre utilising 124,000sqm of event space.
The Gulf Defence Conference (GDC) – the Official Conference of
IDEX – will take place on the day prior to the opening ceremony
of IDEX 2013 on Saturday February 16, 2013 at the Armed Forces Officers
Club & Hotel in Abu Dhabi.
Organized by the Institute for Near East and Gulf Military Analysis
(INEGMA), GDC is bringing together a world-class speaker panel to share
leading-edge insights across a host of key issues. This year, GDC will
cover discussions related to “New Paradigms in Land Warfare,”
“Future Airpower Transformations,” and “Naval Force
Projection and Future Maritime Operations.”
With its technology-centric focus and prestigious panelists, the discussions
at GDC offer a unique opportunity for keeping up to date with the latest
emerging trends in defence. Drawing in over 400 senior decision-makers
from dozens of visiting delegations and senior industry executives,

Indoor Exhibition Halls
100’s of local and international defence manufacturers and
contractors will fill over 35,000sqm of exhibition space running
through the 12 exhibition halls, the concourse and the atrium.
Outside
Space
The outside Capital Plaza features the media centre, exhibition
stands, outside displays and exhibitor chalets.
First-Time
Exhibitor Zone
Located in Hall 1 of the exhibition this zone features companies
participating at IDEX for the first time. It attracts high volumes
of visitors looking to see technology never displayed at IDEX
before.
Unmanned
Systems Area
This area will bring together manufacturers and suppliers to showcase
the latest and future unmanned systems and technology. Visitors
from the worldwide armed forces and governments will attend the
Unmanned Systems Area to source the latest technology of tactical,
HALE, MALE and man portable vehicles, and see concept units of
the future.
NAVDEX
NAVDEX, the Maritime Security Area features local and international
exhibitors who specialise in naval, maritime and coastal security
technology, equipment and crafts. Located on the dock edge, NAVDEX
also features, on-water exhibits, daily demonstrations and visiting
navy vessels.
Helicopter
Demonstration Area
This areas has been created for 2013 to support the increasing
procurement demand from countries around the Middle East. Rotorcraft
procurement in the Middle East and North Africa region is dominated
by Saudi Arabia and the UAE, combined they are responsible for
just under half of the $15.2 billion production sales forecast.
Live
Demonstrations
IDEX continues to offer exhibiting companies the opportunity to
demonstrate equipment and crafts. Daily choreographed displays
will take place on the water and on the purpose-built demonstration
track. In addition, exhibiting companies are invited to host private
demonstrations of their vehicles and crafts.
Gulf
Defence Conference
The Gulf Defence Conference, held under the patronage of His Highness
General Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu
Dhabi & Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces,
will take place on Saturday 16th February 2013.
